HOW DO CLEAR ALIGNERS WORK?
Clear aligners use clear Polymer trays to move teeth in small increments. Each aligner is designed to apply controlled force on the patient’s teeth.
We use a company called RX Aligners that make the clear aligners, which we have had great results from in several years.
HOW LONG DOES CLEAR ALIGNERS TREATMENT TAKE?
As with traditional braces, treatment times vary depending on the patient and how much movement is required. However, treatment time is generally about the same time as traditional braces, between 9 and 18 months. Often, patients find that treatment with positioner's is faster than treatment with braces.
Patients are asked to wear the clear trays all the time, but benefit from taking the trays out to brush their teeth, eat and drink, or on the occasional night out. With good patient compliance in wearing the trays, treatment guide times are usually accurate.
What are the benefits of clear aligners?
- The transparent aligners are so clear they are almost invisible.
- Clear customised aligners are more comfortable than other forms of orthodontic treatment.
- There are no wires to tighten or sharp brackets that cut the lips and cheeks.
- Clear aligners are removable so you can floss and brush your teeth normally during treatment.
- They are easy to maintain and clean during treatment which make them more hygienic.
How much do Clear Aligners cost?
The consultation fee is £150 which is deducted from the overall cost if you proceed with the treatment. On this consultation appointment, numerous impressions, photographs and sometimes an x-ray will be taken and sent off to the company we use which makes the clear aligners. We will also gather the important details from yourself about what you want changing or moving so that you, your dentist and RX Aligners know exactly what results you are looking for.
The cost varies depending on the extent of the treatment required and therefore can vary from £1000 for a simple case, to £3000 for a prolonged case. We will of course advise you in this matter as we have experience in this area so you can make an informed decision, but generally clear aligners are cheaper or comparable to traditional fixed braces.
